The British Computer Society membership lives and works in over 100 countries around the world, making the BCS the leading professional and learned Society in the field of computers and information systems.
The BCS is part of the Engineering Council UK (ECUK) a regulating body for engineers, technologists and technicians. The ECUK is affiliated with ESOEPE, FEANI, EurEta and the International Register of Professional Engineers.
The BCS is the only Chartered Engineering Institution for Information Technology (IT), which enables qualified membership to use the Chartered Engineer (CEng) designation.

We serve the BCS membership community in the Southern Ontario area of Canada.
The purpose of this web-presence is to inform our members, and the general IT community, of our activities in this region.
We also strive to provide services and facilities which are of interest for our members and allow them to stay connected in a geographically broad region.

The end of a legacy and a "New Beginning"
James Burke is retiring from a long career of moving IT into the right direction. Jim has been in the Airport business for almost an eternity and with his last achievement of transforming Peason Airport into a new century and being crucial of making it the most modern airport in the world this truly can be called a GREAT closure.
The entire Upper Canada committee is wishing Jim the best in enjoying his retirement and looks forward to a continued service as BCS UC Chairman.

Hardware Virtualization has been available in the industry for almost 10 years.
Frank Boesche recently attended an industry forum hosted by IDC where he shared experiences and advise as panel speaker.
In a paper Frank demystifies the subject matter of Virtualization and provides an insight into how organisations can leverage this platform. He shares his experience from developing PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Virtualization strategy, leading a national deployment and conversion project then moving into the future by pioneering Utility Computing as a service offering. He also shares his learnings from the IDC forum as well as some useful advice.
